Andrew Barclay Andrew has been a Director of Music in independent schools for
over 20 years. He studied at Dartington College of Arts and Exeter
University. He is an experienced conductor of choral societies
and orchestras. Over the years he has established an enviable
reputation for his Gala Concerts performing large scale works
involving over 400 musicians both young and old. These concerts
have featured many eminent soloists and Andrew has had the experience
of working with many musical stars including the soprano Felicity
Lott. He has conducted in many prestigious venues including New
Yorks Carnegie Hall. Andrew firmly believes that music making
should be fun and all Travelling Minstrels will have the opportunity
to sing and play in a wide variety of styles.
Penny
BarclayPenny is an experienced teacher of the piano, cello and academic music. She studied at the Purcell School of Music and then at the Royal Academy of Music. She has a fine reputation for quality work with students and adults where attention to detail is of key importance. Her specialist areas include chamber music and small vocal ensembles. Raymond and Veronica Jones Raymond studied singing and piano for three years at the Royal Academy
of Music in London. He has given many solo performances in oratorio
and operatic roles during his career and is particularly known for
his interpretation of the song cycles of Schubert and Schumann. A
qualified teacher of singing, strings and piano Raymond is a versatile
musician who is keen to be involved in working with all Travelling
Minstrels. Veronica is an experienced musician who has been working
in North Cornwall for over thirty years. She was trained in singing,
piano and choral studies at the Royal Academy of Music in London.
Her well-known enthusiasm and love of music have encouraged local
musicians both young and old to enjoy their music and achieve highly.
She is currently the musical director in a local independent school
achieving great success in the Music for Youth competition.
She is an experienced conductor of many local choral groups and founder
of the Launceston Choral Society. Her greatest love is the teaching
of singing to all young and old giving special help
to the less experienced amateur musician.
